After the closest contest in SLBC history the company waited with baited breath to find out if this year's best Irish band were going to be from North America, Hawaii or even new contenders from the UK! After one week of final voting Jamison from the Delaware area in Philadelphia has been named the winning band.
We have this message from Jamison: " We would like to thank our families (who do without us on the weekend), our friends (who come out when no on else does), the many great Bands
that helped us by encouraging their fan base to vote (that we really cool, West of Galway and Kilmaine Saints), the bars that book us regularly (Kildare’s, Curran’s, Brittingham’s, Finnigan’s Wake, Casey’s, Paddy Whacks, Tuckers, Con Murphy’s, Shenanigan’s), The Fantastic Irish Organizations that support us (AOH, LAOH, Philadelphia St. Partrick’s Day Parade Committee), and MOST IMPORTANTLY, OUR RALLYING FANS WHO NEVER GAVE UP!"
Congratulations to Ellen Coyne, who will be heading to Las Vegas to watch Jamison play at McFaddens Irish bar at the Rio Casino!
SLBC would like to thank all of the bands who entered the competition. Thanks also to everyone who voted for their favourite band making Battle of the Bands Three a great success.
Battle of the Bands Four is planned for a February 2011 launch with the prize of a gig in Ireland at Celtic Fusion. The prize will also include flights from anywhere in North America, Ireland or the UK and five night’s accommodation for the playing band members.
We can't reveal any further information on the competition just yet, however if bands would like to register their interest, please email Grace Lavery to be included in the mailing list for entry details.
Check back soon for further details on the next competition and please remember to order a St Patrick's Best Ale or Legbiter to celebrate the winners of Battle of the Bands III.
